It appears the registration did not go through. I do not know why. You will have to try again.
As for the 7 character restriction, I have no idea as to the reason. TSO control blocks from the first TSO release imposed the 7 character restriction in such a way that providing an 8 character ID would be quite difficult. It is also related to the internal format of the original TSO userid control data set, which no one uses any more, as far as I know, though it is still supported. This data set is a PDS. Each user has a member with the member name containing the userid; the 8th character is reserved for extensions for users with large definitions. LXX1972 would be members LXX19720 ... LXX19729. One nice idea in the methodology is a user can have multiple passwords; each userid/password combination defines a unique setup, which isn't possible with every security system I've encountered.
